Hi all,
Welcome to our new first years and fellows and faculty!
I would like to announce our next community service activity coming up on July 30, 2010. This is now the 4th in our series of community service events at UW. The American College of Radiology Resident and Fellows Section (ACR RFS)last year implemented a national community service campaign for U.S Radiology programs called the Heart of Radiology. So I am pleased that our efforts will now fall under this rubric and will be co-sponsored with the Resident and Fellows Section of the Washington State Radiologic Society (WSRS) from this point forward.
This upcoming opportunity is at Marra Farms, an organic and sustainable farm in South Park that, among other things, grows food for the homeless. We volunteered here last July and had a good time. The garden is pretty big. The community organizer in charge of the firm has reserved the garden for us on July 30 from 10-2pm, so this will be a great excuse to come hang out with each other and feel good about being of service to our community, even if in a small and manual manner. As always we are opening this up to the residents, the faculty, the fellows, and the staff. We would also like to extend this invitation to the residents and faculty of Virginia Mason. Partners, spouses, significant others, and friends are also welcome.
Here are some pics from our last event.
Lunch will be provided.
I have attached the info on the Marra Farms for your interest.
